Think in layers
Choose layers you can add or remove as the day changes. A windproof outer layer, warm mid-layer, sun protection and gloves are useful starting points; ask your operator for a route-specific list before buying new equipment.
Keep the essentials close
Carry personal medication in its original packaging, a small first-aid kit and any items your clinician has advised you to bring. Keep water and snacks accessible and use sun protection during exposed travel.
Protect documents and devices
Use a small dry pouch for identification, permits supplied by the operator, insurance information and emergency contacts. Keep a copy of important details separate from your main bag.
Make the final list with your team
Temperatures, accommodation and luggage support differ by expedition. Confirm what is carried by you, what travels in a support vehicle and what the operator provides. The final list should be specific to your departure.
